abandon

abandon: (noun) a complete surrender to natural impulses without restraint or moderation; freedom from inhibition or conventionality
I love how accepting of wonder my kids are. They don’t try to analyze it, compare it, control it. When they discover something new and wonderful they give themselves over to the experience. Like when it rains and they want to run out and play in it. The way they can’t walk past a puddle without stepping in it. When we are on a walk and they see a really long worm wiggling on the sidewalk and all walking must cease until they have had a good long look at it. That appreciation and capacity still lives in me, though I don’t give in to it as often as I used to….it’s not always convenient. Sometimes I am just too busy to abandon myself to a moment of wonder.
And yet, it is natural to do so. In fact, Jesus said “Whoever does not accept and receive and welcome the kingdom of God like a little child shall not in any way enter it.” Luke 18:17
So what would life be like if we gave ourselves over to the Lord with that same abandon. What if we just stopped and didn’t try to analyze, explain, assign a value based on our own state of mind. What if we just accepted, received…welcomed the wonder of who Jesus is.
How much have I been missing? I pray that today you and I don’t miss a moment of His wonder.
Where does it come from?

Inspiration is everywhere. Whether we think are aware of it or not, all our decisions are inspired by something.
